Vote March 17:
Keep MWRD Commissioner Precious Brady-Davis Working for Cook County

As your current MWRD Commissioner, working mother, and dedicated environmental leader, Precious is already delivering for our public health and advancing a more equitable Cook County. She needs your vote to continue this critical work. Commissioner Brady-Davis is leading the charge to:

  • Protect our communities from devastating flood damage.

  • Modernize our water systems to be sustainable and energy-efficient.

  • Build climate-resilient infrastructure to secure our future.

Re-elect Commissioner Precious Brady-Davis so she can keep fighting for us.

Prioritizing
Environmental Justice

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District is the second-largest landowner in Cook County. It’s time we use that power to protect our communities.

Here is my plan:

  • Evict toxic tenants: We must stop leasing MWRD land to polluters who endanger our waterways, wildlife, and public health.

  • Protect the South and West sides: These neighborhoods are hit hardest by urban flooding but receive the least financial help. We will direct resources where they are needed most.

  • Build green infrastructure & local jobs: We will build permeable playgrounds and green spaces to prevent flooding, while creating mentorships and on-the-job training in the trades.

  • Expand public nature access: I will advocate for more wetland parks, preserves, and bike trails so everyone can safely experience local treasures like the Calumet River.

Managing Stormwater & Preventing Flooding

Cook County needs creative, proven solutions to manage heavy rainfall and protect our neighborhoods.

Here is my approach:

  • Transform rain barrels into public art: We will partner with local artists to design and distribute rain barrels across the county. This green infrastructure captures rainwater, prevents our sewers from overflowing, and provides free, reusable water for gardens.

  • Complete the McCook Reservoir by 2029: I will advocate to finish Stage II of the Deep Tunnel project on schedule. We already know this infrastructure works—the Thornton Reservoir has drastically improved water quality, boosted fish populations, and expanded recreation in the Chicago and Calumet Rivers.

Action on Climate Change

The IPCC climate report is clear: taking action now secures our future. Here is my plan to make the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District a leader in sustainability:

  • Cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50%: I will push for an ambitious timeline to upgrade infrastructure across our seven plants. By installing new primary treatment and grit removal systems, we can trap methane and convert it into usable energy to power our own operations.

  • Stop facilitating methane production: We must lead by example. I will ensure the agency completely ends its role in supporting or facilitating the creation of methane gas.

  • Power our plants with wind: I will advocate for immediate research into using renewable wind energy to power the aeration process at MWRD facilities.

Glad to answer any and all questions about my qualifications and what I will continue to do as a Commissioner at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.
